Riddle: What cannot walk but later walks on 2 legs then 3 legs then 6 legs and then may not walk again?

when a man is a baby he cannot walk
when he becomes a child he walks on two legs
when he grows older he walks with a cane (3 legs)
when elderly he may have to use a walker (his 2 plus 4 legs of the walker)
and then in time he may be wheelchair bound or death and he walks no more.
