ringtail sharps question! good find odd shape

OK so I found this ringtail sharps bullet in Fayetteville (a lot of history in this city). I was in a park about 5 to 10 miles from where the arsenal was. The arsenal was attacked by the union and destroyed. Is there anyway of finding out which side of the war used this bullet and why it was so far from the only battle I've heardof in Fayetteville? Thanks

Looks like the mold wasn't closed and the lead leaked out.

During the beginning of the civil war, both Northern and Southern units used the ring tail sharps bullet but the Northern units switched over to the regular sharps minie ball early in the conflict.

Ringtail sharps and its variants were usually manufactured in the south for the confederates. CCH

Looks like it was dropped in a firepit, or they were in the process of melting down some bullets to pour the lead into molds that were designed to fit into the guns that they were carrying at the time.

CCH knows what he's talking about ( most of the time ) jk
