River Glass and river rocks

AT Old Gold

New member
I enjoy collecting old , rolled river glass pieces and IR's (Interesting Rock's), especially down river from old bridges. There are a lot of different colors, just one more thing to look for while MD'ing and arrowhead, relic hunting.

A few years back I watched a TV program about some people in California that were searching the surf for broken pieces of sea glass. Once found they would take the pieces to a local jewelry artist who would shape them up and then set them in sterling silver settings to sell as jewelry. Truly turning discarded trash into treasure! I have a few places here in Texas where I have found petrified palmwood and one day I want to get a lapidary saw if I can ever find the time. My problem is I have too many hobbies and not enough time because of work. Ha! Best of luck to you and HH!

My wife collects frosted river glass/shells etc. and makes stained glass lamps and whatnot out of it...she has a good eye for arrowheads too...

That is a nice looking lamp shade Mudpuppy:thumbup: and thanks for posting that pic. Just goes to show with a little creativity some of the things we take for granted or simply ignore can be turned into items of beauty!

All the glass came from the Tennessee River in Northern Alabama, theres a few spots there where the banks are all shell and have a good amount of it already frosted......the shells are from the Gulf Coast...I think they are Limpets...the Wife saw them in a gift shop after hunting on the beach all day for free washups...and she bought a big bag full of them! I told you she had a good eye!
