When replying to lowboy on a thread with some good discussion that was slowly boiling down wether the new LTD modes trump the F75 FE (first edition) enough to warrant the big price tag and whether CL is the button that will stop time on the Explorer forum, I got an error. When I went back to type it again, the whole thread was gone! There was good stuff in there. Why not just comment on the behavior you dislike and lock the thread? It was bad enough to be called un-American and stupid in the thread but to have it deleted after the discussion finally takes a constructive turn takes the insult to a new level.

I just don't think a brand/model specific forum is the place for bringing up a personal opinion around comparing another detector to the one the forum is intended for, unless of course one is trying to jerk someone else's chain, or worse. I used to think the sun never set on Explorers (the first three anyway) but I feel differently now for a myriad of reasons and have for a few years. I think it would be, at the very least, in poor taste for me to go over to any of the ML forums and say so and then engage in "tit for tat" no matter how it developed. Of what benefit would it be to anyone else for me to go to another forum and rant about why I don't like that detector or throw around unsubstantiated thoughts I have unless if I only cared about myself? If someone has a problem with a detector they bought and used for some time and don't think it meets their needs after asking for and getting some help, saying so is fine, but the going on and on with the same stuff gets to be a little too much and after awhile it looks like someone is trying to inflict damage at the worst and at the very least overly redundant B&M'ing. Wouldn't the MD forum be a much more correct place to vent these types of opinions around comparisons? I took the time to read your all your posts elsewhere and I see what you did here isn

I may be wrong, but wasn't the thread in question the one with the shouting and name calling back and forth between a couple members and stuff about calling the police? Maybe that's why the thread was removed.

You may be exactly correct, but you have Fisher users that feel similarly as me but just can't quite handle the insults that are hurled here. The good with the bad will keep folks coming back to the brand, not the rosey love affair that turns out to be a bit less than true. There are places the Explorer falls short and there are situations the F75 falls short. If you have them both, you're all set for any inland hunting. I'm cautiously optimistic that the LTD will have me leaving the Explorer in the trunk more often. Being an F75 user, I know where it doesn't do as well as my other detector, so I also know when I hear things like the description of BP and CL that things might be changing. When asking how those modes worked and why I wanted to know......... well you saw the post that followed.

I know digitrich has much experience with the Explorer and the F75 so his review will mean a lot to someone without the deep pockets to just take the plunge (only to pawn it later for a 400 loss). Rich once told me he'd hunt with my unwashed *$*(#@ if it found treasure - so it's safe to assume he doesn't even OWN rose colored glasses

dont normally talk bad about others-all manufactures make pretty good stuff-but I will comment after continuous assaults made by the same individual over and over on a forum my company sponsors when it is obvious of your love and loyalty to your ML-get over it and please do not buy a LTDpretty please-its obviously not for you.

I use the F75 and ask if the new modes allow for a slow swing while maintaining depth in a trashy environment AND I state why I believe it would help me. A company rep takes offense and rips off an abrasive post that is then pulled down, AND THEN he tells me not to buy an LTD..... If there was nothing to improve on, then why the new edition? You got hung up on the issues I have with my current detector instead of telling me why the new edition will help me.

I think this stance says more than a field test anyway

I'm not here to bash Minelab, I know a lot of skilled dirt fishers use them quite effectively, make great finds and are dedicated to the company's detectors.

But to elaborate on what Mike Scott said, the thing that has really kept me away from Minelab (besides the weight) are the constant reports about poor service when repairs are needed.

No matter how solidly a detector is made, it is an electronic instrument that we put in the dirt and mud and expose to the elements. Keep a detector for more than a short period of time and service issues are probable if not inevitable.

I don't spend a lot of time on the ML forums, but enough to see that there are definite issues with the service dept. Things like repairs taking months and company decisions (since rescinded) to quit servicing ML detectors after a certain period of time.

On the other hand, when I had an out of the ordinary service issue with my F5 First Texas was phenomenal.

Dave Johnson intervened on my behalf to make sure the detector was fixed properly. No one could have blamed Mr. Johnson if he would have thought "I'm the head designer/engineer of this company, I'm not getting involved in something as mundane as one schmuck's defective detector."

But get involved he did. And now I have a detector that is not as good as new, it is way better than when it was new.

Both the Tesoro and Garrett service departments have been wonderful as well when I've had issues.

I don't underestimate the importance of how the service dept. responds when you need them.

And I don't underestimate the importance of a good warranty.

Tesoro takes the prize there with a lifetime warranty, but FT is a solid second with 5 years.

Enough of this negative BS about the Fisher detector. You said what you had to say many times here, now it's time to back off if you want to continue being a member on this page.

Although not all your problem, it was brought on by your initial negative post. I deleted all the post like that in a few strings.

I'm going to lock this string just so it doesn't get out of hand.
