Run away for me I thought

My brother SL52 and me went detecting today and we have a little competition like coin count, or best coin or what ever best find. Well it was a run away for me, I had 2 wheat pennies in my pouch. We had just give up on any chance for old coins and moved to clad stabbing field to just add to our coin count.

Well we are cruising along and picking up some clad, and I look up and here comes walking over like he is going to show me something. I am thinking what in the world could he have found that was worth showing me out of this field. He hands me this big old coin and I am thinking nice big token good for one free ride on something. I could see it had pretty good detail but I had to ask what is it. I could see he had a big smile on his face, and he said it is a half dollar. Can anybody tell me if a clad half dollar beats 2 wheat pennies?

Nice find little brother.

Yeah, Ron, I think you done got beat. I'll sell every wheat I have stored in a gold pan 2 for a clad half. :) HH jim tn

Ron really don't want to get in between brothers. Someone could get hurt? The half must have it. How many halves have you dug? How many wheats? There is the point. Come on give your little brother his due......Z

Two brothers, "Competition"......... hu uh !!.....................

Someone could get hurt, what you need is "hand" and you ain't got it yet. Are you bigger than him, push him down and take the coin, and proclaim it as yours, thats what I would do.:cheekkiss:

I was shocked to find this 1/2 dollar in this fair grounds open field that we've hunted a hundred times. It was a solid 90 to 91 ID no matter which way I swept across it, I'm thinking this is going to be another bottle cap but just about three inches down laying flat there was this clad 1/2 dollar. It was like metal hunting 101, you couldn't miss it if your coil got anywhere close to it.

Hmmmmm, I thought this was a peaceful sport. Now I'm hearing I may have to take a course in fencing with a metal detector!!!

Looks like I will cry uncle, maybe I can do a little better next time.

I must admit I have never found a clad half $ and have found a few thousand wheat pennies. I am not the biggest of us brothers, actually I am the smallest, but I am the oldest so I got the tag big brother.

Nice to have a little fun with this detecting, I thought about offering him 2 of my found quarters for that half:rofl:
