S.C. Historical Marker Dedication Ceremony for 19 African American Soldiers

MT1862

New member
This will be the unveiling of a South Carolina Historical Marker commemorating the encampment of "Wildes African Brigade", and the discovery of 19 African American soldiers by Civil War Relic Hunters. These African American Union soldiers lost their lives on Folly Island during the Civil War. I discovered these soldiers in 1987, and in 1989, they were laid to rest in the Beaufort National Cemetery with full military honors. Please join us in recognizing those who gave the ultimate sacrifice as a soldier.
The event will be held in the Folly River Park, which is a BEAUTIFUL location!! The ceremony will be held July 15, 2011 at 6:00pm. We look forward to seeing you there!
