saddle stirrup? how old?

There are a fair number of these posted on websites here and there. Many of them have a description like this one:

Some are attributed to the Confederate Army, most listings however identify them as civilian. I have one that is very similar that I dug at an old homestead in Canada. Hard to tell how close any of these are from the angle of your pic, Dave.
