Safare & salty air

I would like to use my Mine Lab Safare at the beach, But I am worried about the salt in the air & in the sand. I wont be in the salt water. Just on the beach. What is the best way to protect it from the eliments. I really dont want to wrap it in plastic because of moisture build up in side. Asking for problems there. What do you do? Thanks for your help.

If you don't already have a control housing weather cover, I would get one of those which should help protect in light rain and blowing sand. Sometimes I'll run into other md'ers who have twisty tied a clear plastic shopping bag around the control housing which meets upper rod shaft in heavier rain.
As far as the coil is concerned, I rarely hunt in sea water deeper than lower connecting rod latch. But I remove the coil cover(rinsing and brushing trapped sand that's accumulated in the coil cover -may cause falsing) when I'm done in the surf and move back to dryer sand hunting. Be careful when done beach hunting and accidently carrying the detector back to the car on your shoulder as trapped sea water may run down an inverted detector causing electronic malfunction.

Thank you .I forgot about that cover you can buy to protect it. I will get one. I just dont like the idea of a plastic bag. I know how they build up condensation. That is bad news on any detector. Thanks again....KEN

Hi KEN, I checked out the price of them covers you told me about. Cheaper than another detector... I was looking at one of them detector pro eader detectors.. It would be something I could leave here in the philippines where we live. Wouldnt have to cary it back and forth to the states every year. Just a thought.. KEN
