Safari Coil Questions?

I recently purchased a Slimline 10" coil for my Safari and I wanted to ask if anyone out there has this same coil and what their experiences have been with it? I beach detect a lot and bought an 18"x15" sometime ago but had to sell it because of my shoulder problems and it was hard to swing that big coil for any length of time due to the weight.
Anyway, I'm having to stay with smaller coils and using the stock 11" and a couple of other smaller ones at the moment. It takes longer to cover the 'real estate' on the beaches but that's ok, I have the time to do it. Do you personally stay with the stock 11" or do you change coils often according the areas and conditions?

GS, the stock coil 11" is the still the only one that I have for the Safari and I'm completely satisfied with it. If I hit a particularly trashy area, I'll slow my swing and approach targets at different angles. A smaller coil is somewhere down the road for me. GL this weekend.

Thanks K, I suspect most ETrac, Explorer and Safari owners stay with the 11" stock coil like yourself and that's perfectly ok. I would highly recommend the 6" EQ2 Excelerator coil for a second coil if you have the cash. I guarantee you will be amazed at how it singles out and cherry picks coins in areas of ground that have tons of trash in.
Yesterday for example, I M.D.ed a local park and picked up coins along walkways that others I'm confident shy-ed away from because of the rebar or wire mesh that usually can be found in concrete as a reinforcement. Again, it will allow you to get up real close to metal tot-lot swings and slide structures and bleachers that many times have coins and rings in the ground but only a small coil will be able to pick them out........anyway, something to consider.
I have a beach trip planned for this coming Monday so with some luck and if I can be in the right place at the right time, I'll be posting some good stuff on New Year's Eve!!!!!

Hi, I bought the Minelab 8 inch coil (which is actually 7&1/2 inches) for more trashy areas and it is better than my stock 11 incher for this work. I think Goldstrike is quite right, the 6 incher must be even better in trashy areas. I f you get an extra coil or coils you ought to consider that it is a real pain in the butt to change coils due to trying to get the coil wire up inside the shaft. Most folks also buy an extra lower shaft fo make coil changes easier. I have a whole exta lower and upper shaft for my 8 incher and it is a breeze to change coils.

I cant comment on the 10" Slimline but I bought a 6x8"SEF at the same time I purcased my Safari and I use the smaller coil everywhere except the beach and the woods(use the stock 11" there). And I heartily concur that a small coil helps along sidewalks and foundations. When I started with mySafari/6x8 I thought sidewalks were actually quarter magnets.

Thanks for the feedback guy's! I tried to see if there was a coil (Minelab) comparison chart online and on the other forums but could not find one. Kellyco has a rudimentary explanation of each of their available coils for sale but I was looking for an impartial in-depth field test which would be of great benefit to all. I'll let you know how the Slimline works in the field and post the findings.....hopefully it will help someone compare coil performance when they want an extra or back up coil for their collection.

I have the stock coil slime line and the 8 inch . The 8 inch is my favorite .Its lighter
than the stock coil and is better in trashy areas and i like it a bit better than the slim and it picks jewlrey out abit better than the stock and slimline.
