Safari coil selection which ones work best ???

I will be in the process of getting a Safari in the future. Other than the standard coil it comes with what other coils do you suggest? On my X-terra gold I bought a NEL Sharpshooter which really works good in trash areas etc. I am most likely going to want coils for high trash areas and also for detecting around trees in parks and forest detecting and brush areas. Are the Sunray X5 5.5" or the Coiltek 6" treasureseeker good coils for the Safari in the parks and woods detecting? I do not mind getting extra coils just want to do it right the first time it can get expensive getting something that does not work. Feedback greatly appreciated THANKS

I just bought a Safari after having had a couple etrac/explorers over the years as well as the CTX. My all time favorite coil has been the Sunray X-8 coil. It was the one that stayed on the Etrac 90% of the time. I'm searching for another one now because it is large enough to give decent coverage yet small enough to give better separation in trash than the 11" pro coil.

I use the Detech 8x6" SEF Butterfly Search Coil most of the time. I originally bought to help out with my pinpointing. It gets good depth. Almost as much as the stock 11. Definitely better separation!

The only extra Safari coil I have used is the 6x8 SEF. fwiw, I also like it.

I am going to try the CORS Scout 12.5x8.5 (same as NEL Hunter) on my Safari. I am predicting it to be the perfect coil at separation vs depth.

6x8 SEF without a doubt for me. It's great in trashy areas, first time I put it on I hunted some 1800s cellar holes I had already hunted with the stock coil, I pulled 2 large cents, an Indian, and 2 flying eagles since switching. The larger coil just couldn't find them in all the iron junk, too much under the coil at one time.

I use the minelab 8in coil love it i always hit the 8 in and above coins easy.... also used the sef 10x12 ...wasnt impressed just better ground coverage than the 8in but the 8in punched threw better it seems

All depends on the area you are hunting.....larger coils cover more and go deeper, smaller coils work better in junk and small or trashy areas...Quite impressed with the stock Safari coil myself rel to weight and pinpointing....

6x8 is all I use most of the time,pulled to fatties last night length of Garret Carrot both read 20 in relic mode.

Nice job Prep, on the two fatties. When you wrote that they rang up at 20 , I went back to my early January post from this year and saw that my '68 IHe had read 22 in relic mode, low trash. So it was surprising to see a post -fattie date not ringing in at the typical (for me,anyway) 32-33 for most IHs....
Enjoying my new Detech SEF 8 x6 for trash areas and parks. Mostly hunt fields and woods ,so will get another pro coil or larger one, down the road. HH

I was lucky to purchase a second, used Minelab Safari on the Internet. Now I have Safari #1 mounted with the excellent SEF (Detech now) 8 X 6 Coil, and Safari #2 mounted with the Detech 13" Ultimate Coil. No more changing coils!! I will use Safari #1 in trashy parks, heavy brush or in thick woods; I use Safari #2 in open areas, non-trashy parks and the like. The SEF 8 X 6 goes pretty darn deep and will hit well on small items. The 13" coil may go a bit deeper, but it may also not hit as well on smaller items, and, of course, and may mask some coins because of having multiple items under the coil. It also is more bulky to swing for many hours.

Hunting a lot of my old places over again because not to many places to hunt anymore at least until crops are out have been hunting in ferrous relic just to stay in the game have only 5 silvers this year worst year ever but good year for fatties and old buttons have 31 fatties and hundreds of old buttons I missed I also have been hunting in low trash mode something I usually never do have been locating a lot of smaller items at deeper depths and some neat Iron things mostly old tools.I actually have a lot of woods to hunt just never done it maybe will give a try after mosquites start dying will carry detector with me when I go squirrel hunting.
