SAFARI GETS THE GOLD AGAIN!!!!!

Goldstrike

Well-known member
The Safari is not only a silver magnet, it's definitely a gold magnet too!:wiggle: This year's been very profitable and we still haven't got to the 6 month mark yet!!! The beach's right now are my favorite places to detect but you have to know how to work them to make them give up the good stuff!!!!!....remember to disc out what you don't want and dig everything after you've optimally set your m.d. up...While the Safari isn't the best for the beach because the salt air etc; can break down the circuit board over time and a P.I. that's sealed up/submersible etc; would be best, I'm very reluctant to leave it home just because it's working so well for me and easily reaches down deep into the wet or dry sand!!!
When it breaks down or decides to retire, Kellyco will be getting a call from me and I'll just place an order for another one!!!!!... remember, summer's coming FAST and that means lot's more awesome finds on the beaches!!!.....HH everyone!!

Minelabs can't find GOLD have'nt you heard Goldstrike. If you clean your machine after each use in the salt water environment there should not be a problem. Be sure to take the lower shaft out and clean inside and out. I use divers zipper wax on all my lower shafts it stays on good and I have not had any problems since I started using it. Excall shafts will stick real easy. Just a little food for thought. Great finds by the way. HH :minelab:

Hi Hershey1....I guess I didn't get that 'memo' about the Safari's not being able to find gold!....I'll take a lot of convincing because as we can see on the forum, gold is found from time to time!!
Thanks for the tips about keeping the shafts clean. I really need to get a dedicated m.d for the surf and water soon because I think the salty air will do a 'number' on the circuit board in time. Does the diver's zipper wax leave a residue? wouldn't the sand stick to it? I'd be willing to try it!

WTG Goldstrike! Sweet gold for sure. Best of luck as the summer gets into full swing!

Thanks Bunker and Prep1957.......I'm on my way to Illinois tomorrow (driving the whole way!! 2000 miles) to visit family and do a little detecting! I'll miss detecting the beaches here in Southern California but looking forward to the challenge of changing methods to allow for different soils and terrain etc;.

Awesome!!!

Goldstrike: I put that wax on pretty heavy on my Excal shaft and the sand does not stick to the shaft and it sure makes it easy to take apart to clean. You have about found enough gold to buy you a water machine. Excallibur's are high but they really get the job done. If you can find a CZ 20 or 21 at a good price they are a fine machine also. I liked PI's when I was a lot younger and found some great finds but I also dug a LOT of junk. Now I just ease along and wait on the old Excall to give me that mid-tone grunt. Have a safe and prosperous trip. HH :minelab:

Goldstrike: Because I hunt in rainy conditions quite a bit of the time, I've permanently mounted a gallon size zip lock freezer bag (minus the red zip lock) over the Safari's control box and sealed it tight with clear Scotch tape and black electrical tape on the handle. It doesn't look too bad and might be helpful with your situation too.

Thanks KellycoChick, hershey1 and Mtnmn for your comments, yes I'll try the zipper wax and I have made enough to buy a dedicated submersible m.d. and leave my trusty Safari in the trunk when I hit the beaches!!!!
I'm here in Illinois and taking care of some business first and I am so looking forward to doing some serious m.ding here. I just purchased Andy's Sabisch's books, 'The Minelab Quattro & Safari Handbook' and 'Advanced Water Working Techniques' It's been a pleasure dealing with Andy and he is a great guy to know. Already, Ive picked up some tips that will definitely help me as I metal detect in different environments....I recommend both of them. I'm looking forward to posting finds as I dig them up!!!!!! H.H. everyone.
