Safari Hanger

Here's a MDer holder I made for my ML Safari out of solid Oak, the picture doesn't do it justice, came out real nice
I had made a prototype out of plywood & it worked great so I wanted to make a nicer one from Oak. Added a hook to hang my finds pouch & PP on.

 Nice job!! M.M. have you had any signs of cracking on your plastic/a.b.s. arm cuff yet? I remember mine cracking and completely breaking when I was on vacation at the beach. It couldn't have happened at a more inconvenient time! I went to a local hardware shop and jerry rigged it to just last to the end of the vacation! You can get an aluminum, padded cuff that will last forever!

I've had my Safari about 2.5 years & no problems with the arm cuff, but then again I don't strap my arm into the cuff I just hold it free hand. So that may be why I haven't had any problems with it. I don't like having to put my arm in and out everytime I need to set it down, that's just my preference

What you could also try is take a piece of say 4" PVC pipe cut it in half , just drill a couple holes for the mounting screws. you would have to rig up a different strap

Perfect for the detector stand hanging..... I like your idea..

Very nice work. You might want to consider making a few to sell.

I would buy one! Very neat idea. I have had the safari 3 yrs and detected very hard never had problem with cuff but as mentioned above I don't strap in arm don't fit well strapped.

I don't use the strap on the cuff either. I'm always wanting to dig and I find it annoying to have to unstrap frequently or slide my arm out of the cuff. Although I have 2 different types of harness to take the weight of the m.d. off the shoulder, I can't use them for the same reason.

Count me among those that don't use the strap on my Safari.

I'm going to try & make a few of them as soon as I get time. Been busy with a lot of other projects. I'll let you know when I get them done
