Sorry this is probably a stupid question but the plus and minus buttons how are they used.I am still trying to learn how to use all the options can someone please explain thank you.I know i can put it up to say 39 and it says there but what does it mean.Does that mean when i find something at that number and i see it come up again that is what it is say a dime?. Thanks and sorry for the stupid question I just want to get the max advantage of my machine ps i have rad the manuel but still confused

When you move it up and down it selects a number then you can hit the accept or reject button. also used in the menu.

croakersmoker78,

On most VLF machines the discrimination works by selecting a frequency and ignoring all frequencies below that point. On the Safari however, the frequency return range is broken into different bands represented by the numbers on the scale. You can select a number and discriminate out that particular band but still receive those frequencies both above and below that band. So, if you are hunting in a field where there are a bunch of poptops, all reading at 15 on the scale, you can move the indicator to the 15 and press the "minus" button to reject that band. This comes in really handy in trashy fields, example, we were relic hunting in a field that had been used by civil war artillery re-enactors and was literally filled with little shards of aluminum foil from their blank loads. I was able to disciminate out the foil numbers (9, 10) and continue hunting for relics without the constant chatter from the trash.

If you do not save the settings any changes you make will be lost when you restart the detector.

Croaker: You can customize a program just for you. For example if I want to cherry pick an area for silver I will reject everything but 37 38 and 39 now when I get through I will press the power button and hold it until Factory Settings appear on the screen. Like the fellow said above you can reject any numbers for whatever reason you choose and you will not be bothered with those targets. If you develop a program you like save it. Example if you want ferrous sounds press relic mode and then press coin&jewelery and hold it until the little figure shows in the box by C&J you can now hunt coins and jewelery with ferrous tones. That was just an example. The Safari is a very versatile machine just fool around with it. This sounds more difficult than it is. Be patient and it will come to you. HH :minelab:
