Safari search coils

Can anyone recommend a good search coil that will improve the safaris ability to pick up coins/buttons? I have never used anything but the stock pro coil. I am wondering if there's stuff I am missing in areas I have hunted out. I have never used an aftermarket coil before so I don't know any of the pros and cons

If your hunting trashy area's, you might want to consider a 8x6 butterfly. I love mine due to its a little lighter and easier on the arm and shoulder. I use it allmost all the time unless I'm hunting a wide open area.

I have the SEF 8x6 and the Sun Ray X5 as well. I like them both in varying degrees of trashy conditions.

I have the 8x6 ..... picked up a 15" Coiltek WOT and was thinking about the 5"......

In my humble opinion, it all depends on where you plan to detect. In an open park, usually the stock 11" works for me. When it gets trashy, SEF 8x6. When it gets super trashy or you need to get close to chainlink fences, park benches with cast iron legs or metal bleachers etc; a 6inch Excellerator or a smaller coil works great for picking out single targets like coins, buttons etc;. If you detect the beach.....a WOT 15'' is the ticket. There are other coils to experiment with but it's worth remembering that no single coil will work optimally for all terrain and also personal preference comes into play. It's fun to be flexible and try all of them occasionally!!
