Safari sniffs out silver & gold!!

Funny I was just talking about gold in my nickel trifecta post!! And here I go and find a lovely 18K white gold ring with two pearls and two small diamonds!!! I found it in an easement adjacent to the one where I found the nickel trifecta, too!

I had decided that I was going to start digging some of the 18-22 values, hoping for a gold ring. This one came in at 19 in relic mode with ferrous tones. I figured it was just another pull tab but then decided to switch to coin and jewelry mode with conductive tones. This time the sound was just different enough from a pull tab in both ferrous and conductive tones that I just had to dig, and glad I did!

Just before the ring I was able to snag a nice little '62 Rosie dime. Both the dime and ring were down about 5".

Sorry for the low quality pics...ran out of good available light outside.

HH,

The Safari definately has a good nose. Nice finds Ray !! In 62 I was a negative 4 yrs. I'm 43 now, my how time just flies by. Boy those easements have been good to you. Ron :detecting:

Hey folks, thanks for the comments. But I took the ring to the jeweler's today and he looked at it under the loop and told me it was a knockoff. A fake. I thought it felt a bit light for 18K.

Now ain't that just dang mean to stamp something 18k when it's not?

Now I have to wait until I actually run over something 18k to see what sound and value it's gonna give on my detector. :veryangry:

Why should your luck be any different than mine? Just when you get your hopes up, its a loser. I get the Avon rings with the Cubic Zircon, ain't that the darn est thing. But its a ring and it was fun anyway. You don't win if you don't dig.

I'm sure he offered you a small price for the "knockoff"

I would remind myself of how deep in the ground it was and whteher it was tarnished. Those pearls look right good to me. Buy yourself a diamond test probe. That way you'll be able to test the rocks out yourself and not rely upon a local jewlery rep to make the call.
