Last night on the way back to taking the Mother-in-law back to the nursing home, I found standing in the road one that was looking for a meal in the street....It was a live turkey (which we have a lot of up here). I stopped next to him and wished him a Happy Thanksgiving....after all it must have been happy for him to only be looking for a meal...not being the meal. Mother-in-law got a laugh out of it too.

If you had thought a little faster you could have had next years bird in the freezer! :lmfao::rofl:

If I really wanted a turkey for next year I could have taken the one another motorist hit when he ran thru a group of turkeys along side the road....he went off the side of the road to hit it and left it for dead. Though I didn't see it happen it was obvious what happened and the other turkeys stayed waiting for the dead one to get across the road with them...which will never happen.

Why are people so willing to take a life and not to feed themselves or someone else who needs the food.

Like those who use a deer rifle to shoot a chipmunk or at a bluejay????

God have mercy on their souls...they know not what they do.

A happy Turkey indeed, Pete! :) I saw on TV where a big dog, was carrying a turkey (probably a fresh or thawed one and featherless but whole) holding onto it with his or her mouth and running down the street with it! I guess the dog wanted a turkey for Thanksgiving, too! The TV crew were getting a big laugh out of the scene! :)

Talking about animals, I have had two shadows crossing over the middle of my patio, which I can see while I'm using the Computer. Didn't know what they were for awhile, until I saw a chipmunk and a young squirrel cross many times. At first each would pause when they saw me and then whiz across the rest of the way! They've sure been busy, I guess, gathering and hiding food for worse weather when the grounds are white and/or ice covered! The squirrel has grown and is fatter, so doesn't look like a young, thin one any more! Neither one is afraid now as they were and don't stop or move as fast as they did! I just say hello and never bother them! The squirrel saw me at the patio door window today but didn't seem to be as hurried or afraid like it was! Love God's animals and never could hurt one, unless it is a deadly snake or a spider, which I cannot stand either one!

I would never mistreat an animal....I can't even shoot one....only maybe for food for someone or me if we were starving...but otherwise! NO!! Except for killing a few snakes outdoors and the spiders that have taken up residence in my house without permission!  God Bless! Betty
