This doesn't look that old but was still a neat find. It's about 1.75" X 2" and inside the top is a picture of the blessed mother herself. The bottom has a padded lining so I'm guessing this would have housed a cross or medalion. It was closed and empty when I dug it.:rage:

Very nice. Does it look old? Any kind of markings?

- - It was probably intended to hold a Rosary, possibly a scapular.

Is it silver? It is certainly a FANTASTIC find and should occupy a lofty place in your collection. Maybe it held a rosary or possibly a relic of some sort.

The drawing is lovely. I sure wish it had survived intact.

What a great find to share with the group.

Chris

Very kool find B2H!!

Neat find

After posting it dawned on me that it might be for a small rosary so I did a quick search on Google images and found this one, similar but certainly more modern. I ahd no time to re-post, had to skin out for work.

I'm sure it's not silver and I doubt that it's silver plated but it will certainly have a home in my trinket box = not finds of value but not exactly junk either. Normally I would have passed on a target like this (D size and locked hard on quarter) but since finding that nice bracelet in the park I realized that I've been using the B size target as a crutch. I wonder how many decent finds I've passed on by doing so?
