Salmon River beach hunting with my V/SAT

:usmc: After our very hot summer and no metal detecting, I recently got in some short evening hunts on three of our river beaches. These are some of the typical things I find in the sand of our fresh water beaches where I can usually run my Gain full open on the Gold Master V/SAT. I was finding Bobby Pins first before I found the earring backing and then found the pierced earring. It is C-Zirc mounted on as best I can tell, Sterling Silver. This did have before I placed it in my pocket, a touch of black tarnish. Because the GM V/SAT is a Dig All machine, I suspect the Coin Machine hunters would have rejected out the fish hooks and steel tent stakes for example. Every time I find one of these I cringe thinking about how many bare feet and pets walked over the stuff in the sand. The one picture with all the fish hooks, I found these in an area of the sand about 2-3 feet wide and maybe 10 feet long. All but the one with the fishing line attached, were new and with very pointed barbs. I forgot to include in that photo, all the burned pallet nails and staples I found there as well.

What I do not pick up are the millions of bits of melted aluminum. I don't mind picking up and throwing away the normal junk finds or keeping the lead fishing weights for bullet casting but I refuse to spend my entire detecting time, cleaning up after idiots who put aluminum in camp fires to have it spread all over hell and gone by spring run off water and other causes that move it around. I have not found a camp area or beach on the Salmon River here in Idaho that does not have any of it present. The stuff is a curse. Anyhow, for the Gold Master Brothers out there, don't let anyone tell you your GM won't find coins. I actually increase my Nickle finds when using this machine.
