Went to the gulf beach today for an hour and took along the F-75 SE.
I know in wet salt sand the GB numbers are typically very low and that the F-75 SE would not ground grab something under 40.
I placed the detector in manual GB mode and pumped the coil above the wet salt water sand as I turned the knob reducing the numbers.
I went all the way to 0 before the detector was silent as the coil approached the sand ... even a setting of 1 would produce a sound as the coil got close to the wet sand. I set the detector on 1, switched back to discriminate mode, DE, discriminate at 10, sensitivity at 80, and started swinging.
The detector was stable so I upped the sen to about 95 but had to back it down to 89 to stop most of the noise.
It seemed to be working and when I hit a target I moved off it and pulled the trigger to pinpoint.
It would not work ... just a loud noise even when I tried to desensitize by releasing and pulling the trigger again.
Luckily the F-75 SE gives a sharp enough response I really did not need the pinpoint mode as I just crisscrossed the coil 90 degrees to find the target center.
Didnt find much as I only had an hour to hunt.
I really do need to learn more about the adjustments and modes.
I can see a small cheat sheet would sure come in handy.
Wet saltwater sand is not what I bought this detector for but I wanted to see how it would act around it.
The detector DID auto ground balance up in the dry stuff (actually damp as we had some rain) at about 45 to 55 and everything seemed to work as it should ... even the pinpoint mode did well there.
Anyone else using their F-75 on the saltwater beach in the wet sand?
What mode and settings do you use?
