A few more details are on the Beach and Scuba forum ... but it has been a good week even though there have been few targets.
Packed the Excal and Sand Shark for this trip. Always want to pack more detectors ... but flying kind of limits me to two.
Started hunting with the Excal and with so few targets switched to the Sand Shark and didn't look back. One thing I noticed with this hard packing very fine sand is that the coil can stick to the wet sand, even when in the water. Ever see someone on a skim board that sticks to the sand and they fall forward? ... had the coil just stick to the sand a many times. I had both 8 inch and 10.5 coils with me and stuck to the 10.5 inch coil.
Monday had a fellow come running up asking for help. Wife lost her ring. It was in dry sand and they had a very good idea where it was lost. A couple minutes with the Sand Shark and they had it back. Young lady had been kind of besides herself and with the ring back in her hand was jumping up and down and gave me a big hug. Always good to have a happy result! First, blurry picture is from her cell phone of the recovered wedding ring.
Most of the rest of the week brought a couple dozen bottle caps and about $2 in clad. Friday, today, brought nearly $2 in clad and a nice little 14k ring with a stone that shows some purple. Not sure what the stone is. Also got a big, junk, gaudy earring this morning.
Flying home in the morning. Was a good week away. Ate a lot of sea food; probably more than I burned off; but it was a good week.
Cheers,
tvr
