Sanded in week on the Gulf of America

Well-known member
Was in Panama City Beach for a week. First day there they were dragging beach lounge chairs onto the beach stacked in piles with several rows of piled lounge chairs. They are preparing for a bigger crowd come spring break. Next day the chairs started to get buried in sand. By the end of the week there was six to ten inches of sand accumulated about half burying the bottom chair of each stack. Was windy enough the entire time that the waves the wind was whipping up were very prohibitive for this old guy to get in the water. Saw three kids in the water for a little while. Did not see anyone else detecting the entire week. Turned up just under $2 in clad and one plated ring (18k HGE) ... can see the plating flaking in some parts. Got some exercise and the sunset on the last day we were there was spectacular. Was using the Fisher Impulse AQ and it ran well, got hit with a bit of interference in front of one of the resort buildings; enough that I had to turn sensitivity down to 2 to quiet it.
Here are the junk ring and the sunset:

Hopefully your enjoying the trip anyway.
Maybe you could find the area the sand is being blown from.
we had a great trip. Had a cousin and her husband with us. They have been with us on the Gulf before but had never been to New Orleans so we did a three day trip to NOLA. We had a full week in Panama City Beach; not a lot of targets, and over about a two mile stretch of beach did not find much in the way of cuts, but a lot of soft deep new sand. Not seeing any other people metal detecting should have told me something too.

Sorry the detecting didn't play out.
Happy y'all had a great time.
Because of work demands I haven't had a pleasure vacation in many decades.

I'd Love to see you and anyone else post there fishing adventures.

I've never set foot in the ocean.
Let alone fish there.

Ever hook a big tuna ?
I've read they can be quite a handful.

Love to see crabbing and lobster catches.

Never went out for big tuna. I think wife has the pictures of pulling up the crab pots on her phone. I'll see if she can find one or two. Here is the nice size flounder she got two summers ago. Most of the ones we get are not big enough to keep, but this was more than big enough. Great eating too!

Edited to add: Funny about catching this one; we had caught four or five sting rays before getting this one on the line. It was pulling steady and not back and fourth so before we saw it, wife handed her fishing pole to me saying she did not want to pull in another ray. As it got close to the boat and I could see it was a flounder, I handed the pole back to her and said I think you want to finish bringing this one in!

That is Awesome.
What's the minimum size allowed on the fish you've caught ?
I could look it up.
Though I'm not even sure what fish are out your way.

I've only seen the ocean half a dozen times in my life during power restoration during big storms.

Heck I've only been west of the Mississippi two times for my son's Air Force graduations and retirement.
He worked on the F18 if I remember correctly, and Stealth Bomber which I'm certain of.

Bugs me he still can't talk about the other craftvhe worked on he once mentioned.
All he said was they shut down All lights on the base and surrounding streets and small towns at area 51 for the landing.

I'd love to know the full context of what that craft was. 😉

I'm just an Old Major science nut.
Especially Fringe science.

They raised the size limit on flounder. It was 15 inch minimum, now it is 16 inch minimum. Can have 5 per person and no more than 10 per boat.

I would guess that the area 51 lights out was for a next generation stealth aircraft. Maybe the next generation bomber? Either that or ET was visiting again. ;-)

Sad about the limit change.

From what little I understood.
It was a new very quiet vtol craft.
