Saturday outing with T2 and new small coil - :detecting:

I recently purchased a small coil for my T2 from Richard at Backwoodsdetectors. I commend both the coil and Richard, who was very informative and pleasant in his email exchanges with me as I was making my decision to get the coil. Once purchased the coil arrived very quickly. Thank you Richard!

OK, to the coil, I took it out this morning, Saturday, to a Civil War site I have been working for three years with a couple of good friends. Of late the finds have been few and far between and that is why I decided to try this new coil at this particular site. There is plenty of trash iron in the ground and I was curious to see if anything would be picked up in close proximity to the trash. The results of the day are in the picture, five nice Civil War Union "drops". These are all pretty common bullets, two are .44 caliber rifle bullets and three are .52 Cal Sharps. But Civil War finds are still Civil War finds. At least three of the bullets were located next to unrecognizable pieces of rusted iron and the coil successfully separated them. I did all my searching with the T2 in Discriminate Mode with the settings at 80 sensitivity, 10 Discriminate level and at 2+ tone. Again, this site has been worked over, so I am very pleased with the performance of the coil. I will make it one of my regular tools for metal detecting.

Very nice! I have been on the fence about getting the 5" because alot of people say they get similar separation with the stock coil. I have some yards that are very heavily iron laden that i keep thinking about that coil for. I think i might have to drop Richard a message this week and get me one ;) Thanks for the great post!
