Saturday's Finds!

I managed to find a few more keepers today. I found 2 1892 Indian Heads,Wheats dated 1909(noVDB),1917-d,1919,1919-s,1924-d,1927,1927-d,1928-d,1946,1947-s,and 1953-d. The 1924-d Wheat Penny is in great shape. I wish I could get a better pic of it since it has full wheat ears. I also have to soak it for awhile to get the rest of the dirt off but other than that, it is in excelent condition. I also found a 1946-d Jefferson Nickel. All the above are in one pic below. And I found a couple more silver coins. I found a 1900-O Barber Quarter, and 3 Merc's dated 1935-d,1942-d,and 1943.[attachment 24491 CentsandNickel.png][attachment 24492 1924-dWheat.png][attachment 24493 1924-dWheatBack.png][attachment 24494 Silver.png]

which is why I was shocked by your description of your finds. You went on and on about the wheatie and at the end you say matter of factly "oh by the way" I found a Barber quarter and some Mercs. I'd have been spouting off about the silver and IHs and said "oh by the way" I found some wheaties as well.

Great day James, WTG

Thanks WVAdirtdigger. I just like leaving the the best finds for last and hopefully I can find more keepers like the ones I have been finding lately.

Thanks Mike K(Ohio). It is hard to find the older and bigger silver coins but if you do the research and are lucky enough to find the spot before someone else does you will find them. Hope you start to find some of those Barber Or Seated Quarters sometime this year and Good Luck and HH.

James,

I thought you would have been out detecting already this morning, I would have been, but we have a Easter dinner here today.
If you are going to beat Tim you got to get up early and hit those spots like he does, but I see you are still getting some great finds and much better than most of us around here.
I went up to that Race track North of here and thought I my see you, Dale or Tim there on Saturday and would like to tell you all the barber a seated I found, but not this time. Someone has been hitting it hard as there is tracks all over the place, but after 2 hours I found a few iron relics and a nice gold pin with a fancy E on it.
I hope you are able to get out today as i would like to see what you find again, but just leave some for the rest of us and if you go over your limit for the day and have any extra silver just drop it off at my place.:lmfao::thumbup:

Hi James,

I like those silver Mercs, unfortunately the only ones we get here are purchased from the coin dealers, although last week in the park I picked up a USA car wash token, most unusual for here.

All the best.....Boony

Went to Island park in the ballfields on the south side as my wife wanted to detect with me along with my Grandson. I was using the T-2 to see how it will be in the iron trash and got a 1923 S Wheaties that had a iron token with it the size of a half dime, so the T-2 works in iron. I got 28 new coins too in the 2 hours we were there this evening plus a nice gold ring that looked good, but was told it is Lord of the Rings novelty item.
