Saving Custom Programs with the V3i

johnedoe

New member
I just got a new V3i and am doing pretty well with it and getting comfortable with the adjustments and tuning.
With that said I am still not sure how to go about saving and naming my adjustments into a custom program.
I have read Carls advanced V3i booklet and some other stuff about this as well but I still seem to be missing something and just can't seem to get this one through my thick skull.

Hi John ... check your PMs.

Once you have your custom program set go to the expert menu PROGRAMS
go to RENAME

use the up and down arrows to pick the old name of your program
hit tab to move down to new name
type the new name
tab down to rename
hit enter you are done.

Now go to SAVE
use the up and down arrows to pick the name of your program
Tab to save hit enter to save.

A problem I seem to keep having is that when I choose to "reload" say, the factory Coin prog after renaming a custom program, it alters my renamed custom. I've just been making changes on the fly since this began happening. What am I doing wrong?

Howdy 5900,

I'll take a stab at this one, just because I'm having a very large Black Russian on an empty stomach and feel like kibitzing a little. When you try to restore your renamed program, the machine has no reference for restoring it - except the original factory program. After you rename your newly created program, STORE it to the library. Now the machine has a reference for restoring when you ask it to.

If you want to make another round of "permanent changes" to you program, make sure you delete the library copy and replace it with the new version. If you don't do that and then hit restore later on, you will be back to your original version of the program. The key to the Restore function is managing the library version of the program. You can modify the "Library Copy" of any program you create, but you can not modify or delete the factory program versions that are in the Library. That's why you don't have to worry about "messing up" the factory programs, they are forever protected in the library.

Dave

PS: I hope this wasn't the vodka talking.

Rob.
You posted this in the 5.3 coil thread....
Just thought it might help in this thread........

Martin, have your custom coin program renamed. Then goto Expert menu - program - new - X the use library name - use arrows to pick your library program (coins) - tab to create - hit enter - and you have a new coin program.

Your custom program will not be altered.

Thanks

:beers: Yup, No problem. I had a feeling this is where you intended it to be..If not it sure answers some of my questions anyway...
