Here's a story someone submitted for the Whites forum. It has a vintage pix (looks like mid to late 1960s) of a guy posed with his Whites detector, finds, etc....

That's what got me interested in detecting, looking at the catalogs and magazines that were showing what detector owners were finding.
 
When coins and relics were plentiful. Wow!
