SCAM ALERT: Fox Gold Detectors

I talked by phone with Joe Fox this morning and got an earful of evasive answers to my specific questions regarding his purported new type of metal detectors. Bottom line---its a scam to pull in cashier checks or wire transfers from unsuspecting dealers and business owners outside of California. There is no dealer or store owner that has one to see. He would not provide me an address in Los Angeles to see even a prototype unit. He kept referring me to wait for four days until CNN press releases come out. CNN has never heard of this guy. After talking with several other reputable metal detector dealers that advertize in W&E Treasures magazine, it became clear that this scam origionated about a year ago out of Germany and now is operating from a Los Angeles, Calif. site. Sorry to waste this much ink and toll phone calls on this, but a hoax is a hoax. Buyer beware.---Rick

I love uncovering these guys (or seeing them uncovered). Good work Rick! Maybe I'll give him a call and say I'm on my way down and would like to become a dealer too <IMG SRC="/forums/images/smile.gif" BORDER=0 ALT=":)">

It is a April fools day joke that has been released early. It does everything,it is wonder that they don't claim that it can give weather forecast. You would have to beleive in the tooth fairy to swallow that.

Hi, fun but old post...
I worked for this guy, he was in LA back then, around 1999...can't remember exactly, that's son long ago
Worked for him but never got paid so I left. There was a prototype and I've seen it, he said his machine was so hard to build that not many factories in the world could do it, but that he found one un Portugal.

If you look him up, there's posts about him too in Florida.

I was actually there when it began. Just so you know, this was not his idea, it came from a hairdresser that we both met a couple of times, can't remember his name. Hé was just helping the hairdresser to get his business starting...and he went to jail for that too...good for him :)

Plenty more to say about him, but what's the point...hope this 2001post interests someone :)
