Scoop for river hunting

E-TREC-Virginia

Just picked up a new Excal II which will open up a whole new area of detecting for me that I have not yet experienced. I'm planning on doing some river hunting for CW relics and what every else I can find and wanted to get some input as to the best scoop to use. I currently have a 6" RTG Pro Aluminum - screen bottom scoop that I use for the beach. It's a little small so I was thinking about upgrading and I do not think that it will hold up well digging in the rocky river bottom. Is there a scoop that does a good job in both conditions? At the beach, I hunt dry/wet sand and shallow surf up to my waist. I've seen good reports on the Sunspot STEALTH 8 SugarSand Classic or the STEALTH 8 Classic. Not sure what size holes would work best 1/4 vs. 1/2 inch? Is there another make/model that would be better suited?

STAVR makes a range of scoops, I have one that I use on the beach and river hunting where there are rocks and bits of old brick etc, works very well.

His work is top rate. I'm in no way associated with him I just appreciate good workmanship.
