Scout camp hunt.

Boy did we get our butts wet yesterday!! I think we had eighteen club members that showed up for our hunt yesterday. I only know of one barber quarter that was found, but we did manage to pull out some SLQ's, Liberty halves, Franklin halves, merc and rosie dimes, war nickels and V nickles and some wheaties. I don't have the total coin count yet, but I will and post a picture later. I was doing pretty good until my XS went bonkers on me which I have posted the story already. I got a 1926 SLQ, 1945 war nickle and a 1908 V nickle, 1917, 25, 39, 42 and 43 mercs, a 1956 rosie, 1923, 24, 35, 40 and 57 wheaties. I also got a silver ring. Some of the fellows went back again today, but I stayed home and tried to see what was wrong with my machine. I'm sure they will leave a few for me for our next trip there. HH.

Wow, you had a great day. Guess it was worth the wet.

It was a good day until my machine went nuts!! Sure would have liked to have hunted longer as it seemed like all the Minelabs were finding most of the silver. Thanks again. HH.

Eddie

I agree that it's the type of place you go back to time and again. Unfortunately, we only get the chance one a year to hunt there. I just talked to my buddy who went back there today and he had the place all to himself. He got three more mercs, a rosie, some wheat's, a buffalo, a V nickle and a barber dime and two or three silver rings.

Eddie

Yes, it's Poulsbo. Where are you located? Chuck is doing pretty good and I'm in the same club he belongs to. I guess his hip is giving him some problems and he can't detect very long without taking a break.

Eddie

Chuck and I are old friends and have hunted together many times. I use to be in the club a few years back but I'm a ships captain and have been working overseas the past few years. I work closer to home now so will be back at the club meetings soon. Very nice finds by the way. I've been hunting some of my old Bainbridge Island sites since I'm home more now and doing well on the old silver.

What type of ships are you a captain of? Also, what do you go by other than crazyman? I will let Chuck know we have chatted and look forward to meeting you when you come to the club meeting again. I think that is my best silver count in one day. Could have gotten more I'm sure if my Explorer hadn't of crapped out on me..... :)

Eddie

Tell Chuck You talked to Mike. Ask him about his Fort Ward tokens we found. I'm running tugs right now but was in the Persian Gulf running a tanker the last few years. Look forward to meeting you. Wouldn't mind comparing your Minelab to my machines sometime soon. I've been thinking of trying one out.

:super:Nice coins there Eddie, but I had a pretty good day too!! But my problem was more with mud than with the rain, see I wear good rain gear, It took a good hour to clean up my machine after the "Island trip ". anyway I got a '53 rosie, '19, 2 '44s,'25,'and a '28, mercs, 2 Wa quarters '42 & '45, a '17 walker and a '51 franklin, several wheats were there too the oldest a '19, not much for jewelry though, only got a couple rings and a pendant,
I went to the 10" coil for this site and found that it will really reach some good depth as most signals were about 8 to 10 inches, I've been using the 8" and now feel that I've been missing some targets, and pinpointing was no different than with the smaller loop.
Good hunting there Eddie, enjoy your postings.

Glad to hear you're back into detecting, now you need to start attending your clubs meetings when you can, I'll bet that they would like to see your smiling face, and your finds.

Thanks. Hey, you weren't at my camp site were you?........ :) You did have a good day also. Are you going to post a picture for us to see? I started using my 10 inch coil also and I agree that the deeper coins are more abundant. The wet ground helps as well, but we have had enough rain now to last the rest of the year. HH.

Eddie

I'll see Chuck tomorrow night at our meeting and tell him that I chatted with you on the forum. I was the first one in our club to purchase the Minelab Explorer and now there eight of us who have them. Looking forward to meeting you also. I'll tell Chuck hello for you. HH.

Eddie

I agree with you on that too much rain is enough:rant:, it also makes the targets hard to pick up on, I believe that wet ground enhances the signal, but there is a point where you lose the enhancement and it starts to scatter the signal, thats when you slow down even more and listen to the tones, and not rely so much on the meter:minelab::detecting:
