SE finds, Dug allot of iron to get these.

Thanks James,

You'll find the pre-set sensitivity has been increased, So you'll need to operate the SE at a lower manual sens then boosting it up a bit until the machine starts to lose stability. The max I can operate my SE at this old park is around 19 to 21 "manual" depending on the area, Don't operate the SE too high or you'll encounter interference with the SE sounding like something's wrong....It gets plenty of depth so no need to bust a gut trying to get more, Let the machine find the target while maintaining stability.

Another good point with the SE is the faster audio recovery speed, Now the SE user can go into a trashy area of an old park and pull out deep coins between the trash. The faster recovery speed enhances separation which will increase finds once the SE user understands this, Once the user believes in the SE and understands the positive points he/she can use them to an advantage.

Good luck and have fun :)

WOW !!! :jump:

What a great thread...:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

I read everybodys post in the thread, and Old California I must say that you really come across as a guy who knows his Explorers.

Sorting out the old silvers amongst rusted and rotten old iron would be about the hardest ask of any detector,and I can see that the ability of the SE is proven by your post...
I have had an Explorer XS which was great, an Explorer II at the moment ~ which I believe is even greater than my old XS...
But from what I've seen from your experience,
it's time for ol' Snowy to move up to an SE.

Snowy.

Thanks Snowy,

Allot of Explorer users on the forum use the same tactics so many understand what's in store when going after these type of signals, You're going to dig allot more rusty iron to capture what's left of the silver herd.

The XS and Explorer II are fine machines and for most Explorer users, upgrading to the SE may not be necessary. The new SE won't do any good unless the user applies the new features and uses them to the fullest, It's a small improvement and an edge. I see it and have experienced it in trashes areas with the faster recovery speed, I now know this and see it as one of the SE strong points so I focus and use it in trashy areas "both aluminum and iron."

My deepest coin with the SE was a measured 10" inches, A deep wheat penny from a pounded park, We have poor ground here so depth has always been a struggle for us.

Time to head to work, Thanks again Snowy,
