SE - No Audio 3

New member
I use an EXPL 2 and nearly always CONDUCTIVE with AUDIO 3 and IM -10. I'm very happy with it. However I've been thinking about upgrading to an SE to secure a warranty again as things don't last for ever and chaos theory says 'what can go wrong will go wrong'.
My concern is that I'll have to learn the sounds all over again with AUDIO 3 having been removed from the SE. It has been replaced with PITCH HOLD. I have read that PITCHHOLD is like I used to have with my old SOVEREIGN XS2. I do not wish to return to that system of sounds.
So are my worst fears reality in that I cannot use an SE with sounds the same as my EXPL 2 ?.
Am I doomed to search out barely used EXPLR 2 machines forever.
Has anyone else made a transition from AUDIO 3 to an alternative on the SE ?
Or - Can it be setup to sound just like AUDIO 3 response?

Thanks, In Anticipation

(And on the eigth day he created the Minelab Explorer)

Thats not true........He created the SE on the third day but didn't release it till the eighth day just so he could make $ on the xs and II first.....Sorry I can not comment on the SE but I got a kick out of the words at the end! Hope someone can help!

Audio 3 is to some extent still in the Explorer SE.
It's now called "SMOOTH"
The MAIN difference is, "Smooth" is similar to Audio 3 with a little "less filtering"
So, it's almost like Audio 3 was but a tad shorter in it's signal decay rate.

And, don't underestimate the [New Pitch Hold Mode] which, has super user benefits.

Thanks for the quick response Des. Is that a realistic 'will not notice the difference tad'. 'Tads' are relative in time and space. I'm fearing that a shorter signal decay rate will need an even slower swing speed.

It will take a bit of adjustment going from a 11 to an SE. I feel if you borrowed a clubmembers SE or went along on a hunt might be the answer..It appears you have different hearing from most as most use normal and many experiment with audio 1 but never heard of anyone using audio 3..My suggestion is present your question to Minelab U.S.A. and believe me they will give you a quick knowlegable answer...
certainly service after the sale from Minelab is excellent at best...
drop them an E-mail and you will see what I mean...

As Des has said, I think you will find "Smooth" to not only be SIMILAR to Audio 3, but perhaps even "new and improved".

As for the Pitch Hold, it's not a return to the Sovereign "system of sounds" at all, but simply adds the trait the Sovereign had of "holding" the threshold pitch of the last target you went over. See my other post here today on that subject for more.
