SE resetting

BlackX

New member
Periodically when I turn on my SE, it's coming up in factory mode. The saved settings seem to be still be there but it's a bit frustrating. I'm not holding down the power button to reset it to that state so I'm wondering what's going on. Usually it happens when I have the battery out for recharging but sometimes it does it with the battery still in. Anyone else had/have this issue?

The way you reset the machine is by holding the power button continuously while turning it on, so if it is resetting by itself when you turn it on, either you are holding the power button too long or your power button is sticking and you might have to send it in.

This has happened to me with the XS, that is why I have posted before to check all settings before a hunt...cause it may be in a reset mode and you may never realize it till it is too late....I never found out why it was happening, but my guess was the battery contact points were dirty and I lost good contact while it was on, which is a hard reboot version of the, hold the ON button down for longer than normal, what ever the amount of time should be. I cleaned the battery contact points and it seem to be ok.....my other thought was the battery was a bit loose and bounced up and down in the compartment so who knows.....it has been fine for years so I will never know. Clean the battery contact points with a exacto knife or a small flat screw driver or something....just to get a clean surface...don't disfigure them,be gentle.
