Wifey just bought me a used one at a garage sale a couple weeks ago(she's a garage sale fanatic)
. It's got some miles on it, but seems to work great. I haven't gotten around to using it, other than air testin'. I plan on using it tomorrow at the beach in the surf and wet sand. I love that descreet elimination. I knocked out pulltabs, bottle caps and rusty nails, but still pick up small gold rings loud and clear without loosing depth. I can hardly wait to put it into practice tomorrow. I'll keep ya' posted. .Good luck with yours. It is a very good machine. Keep us posted on your results. Best of luck to ya'. Happy Hunting!

Yes...I had it for some time. It gets great depth. It works best in waters with medium to none amount of junk. Because it's a PI, it will really like iron. If you use it on a hunted out beach, don't be surprised if you get lots of signals and some surprises like gold rings. Hunted beaches have been cleaned up by others, leaving the deep gold for PI machines like the Garrett Mark II. Pi's can easily get gold rings in the 10-15 inch deep range, where many other detectors fail. Good luck and I hope you get lots of good targets.

First time out with the Sea Hunter MK II yesterday morning. Hit the surf for about an hour. Only got a spoon(stainless steel) and a corroded bullet cartridge(.30'06?). Surf was rough and I got tired out pretty quick. I was using the descreet trash elimination and did notice that I wasn't getting the usual trash targets. I plan on hitting the beach again with it on Thursday morning. I'm loving this machine so far. I'm asking myself why I didn't get one when they came out ten years ago!Happy Hunting!

I don't have a test garden, but in air tests and just tossin' stuff on the ground I can knock out pulltabs, bottlecaps, foil and aluminum bits of trash, but gold rings still ping loud and clear in descreet trash elimination. Rusty nails give a soft double blip, but gold rings ping loud and clear. However, a soda can is gonna blip just like a ring, though.Nevertheless,it's awesome, dude. I wish I would've got one years ago. Just my $.02 worth.

The Sea Hunter MK II handles the dry sand very well. I used mine in mostly dry sand at the beach yesterday morning and it did surprisingly well. I stayed out of the surf for the most part because it was full of kids splashing around enjoying the beginning of Summer vacation. We didn't make it to the beach as early in the morning as I would have liked to and it was a bit crowded. I used my 10"x14" mono search coil and I must say it does go deep. Playin' around with standard trash elimination set at "0" to receive all signals, I dug a 4" iron bolt at over two feet. However, I kept it in descreet trash elimination most of the time set high enough to knock out pulltabs and bottle caps, but still pick up my wedding band (around 7). I was still getting some small bits of iron trash at over a foot, but they all seemed to give a soft double blip sound. Like, when I passed the coil over them it would signal when the edge (side) of the coil passed over them. I did find several clad coins ( pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters) which each gave a singal crisp ping sound at up to ten inches deep. I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that I got some nickels which are lower in conductivity than pulltabs. Wifey was hitting the same general location as me and she got at least a couple dozen pulltabs with her Ace for the day. About an hour and a half into detecting I was approached by a young couple who said that they were on their honeymoon. They said that the bride had just lost her wedding ring in the surf while they were splashin' around wrestlin'. She did seem quite upset. They asked me if I could find the ring with my detector. Of course I said that I would try. Well, they walked me over to where they said that they were when she lost it. They described the ring to me and I walked out into the surf swingin' with her hubby by my side. I got a couple pennies and a quarter. I also got a couple rusty nails on the magnet in my scoop. Each time he was looking closely to see what I got and asking if that was the ring. Finally, after about fifteen minutes in the water, I got a nice crisp ping signal and dug. Lo and behold, in my scoop was a shiny little gold wedding ring with a small diamond. The young man was right there along side me and I handed it to him. I thought that he was gonna knock me down, he hugged me so hard and he shouted out loud. He ran out of the water and put the ring back on his new brides finger. As I reached the shore, she ran up to me and I really almost fell over as she jumped on me with a big hug and kiss on the cheek. I almost thought my wifey would be jealous, but she was laughing so hard I knew she thought it was the funniest thing. It was a really nice feeling to know I helped someone get their wedding ring back. After all that excitement we were done for the day. We each got about five dollars in clad. Wifey had over a couple dozen pulltabs and junk/trash. I didn't have any pulltabs or bottle caps, but I did have various iron bits. So, about the Sea Hunter MK II, yeah, it's good for the dry sand because you can knock out pulltabs, but still get gold rings. However, you will get iron bits, too. If the area you are searching is not too trashy you can go very deep with the standard trash elimination set at "0" and get those old gold rings that others have passed by.
