Sea Hunter Mark 2

I am fairly new to the hobby and my weapons of choice are the gti-1500 for land and sea hunter mark 2 for the beach. I have a question about the sea hunter, I have noticed that my machine goes absolutely quiet now and then most times after it passes a target but does occasionally do it when I dont hit a target. Is there something wrong with it or is this the way the machine is supposed to operate? I am having some difficulty with deeper targets, I really do not understand the sounds yet as sometimes I think there is a target but dig and find nothing. I know the shallow targets because it will blast your ears pretty good. I started with the gti-1500 so I am not used to these machines that you have to listen for the sound. Can anyone offer any advice?? Thanks. Rich

Haven't noticed the same problem with mine. Does your Sea Hunter go quiet in both modes i.e. Standard Trash, Discrete Trash?
Tell me the settings you usually use and I'll try the same next time and let you know if I can recreate your problem.
Re. deeper targets. My main problem is with the very small (tiny) iron pieces which can still produce a very loud response when deep, they can take too much time to find in the sand as they tend to just move around a lot when digging. A magnet has helped a lot with that though.

I usually run with the standard elimination with a 2 or 3 on threshold and a 3 or a 4 on descrimination. I had it out the other day on the beach in North Carolina and it still was going quiet now and then, sometimes after over a target sometimes for no reason. I dont know, It is only a month and 1/2 old and I only used it about 3 times. I dont know if I really like it, I am getting changes in my threshold sound but it does not sound like a target. I am only digging targets that I can hear a distinct sound. Maybe I should trade it in. I dont know.

Rich,
Gave your settings a try over wet sand and get the same(?) results as you i.e. no threshold sound for a couple of seconds after passing over a target, then the threshold will come back up.
Sometimes I get the same when swinging the coil a bit too high too.
Re. trading it in.....suggest if you use it for a year or so you'll be pleasantly surprised....look forward to your pics if you do <img src="/metal/html/wink.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=";)">
Hope that helps.
