Seated's, 3 cent piece, Indians

Hi Folk's
Finally getting crops picked in my part of the state. The boy and I hit a field that I had pretty good luck at in the fall of 2007. managed to find a few keepers this time around also. Found 3 seated dimes 1841,4857,1891, four Indians 4896,1890,1887,1898 and my first ever sliver 3 cent piece 1853, this coin had been on my to find list. These were found with a CZ-3D. Thanks for looking.
Mike

Very nice! I had heard that much of the country had delayed harvests this year. Glad you still have a little bit of time to hunt before the ground freezes.

Awesome hunt Mike, the kind of hunt we all dream of

Gotta love the CZ, it's a killer silver machine :beers:

hh,
Brian

And really hard to come by for some of us folks. Good job...I'll bet there's a lot more. Was this a place that had seen a lot of activity in the past...like an old church or dance hall? We have a few of those hidden out here in South Texas.

Keep up the good work.

Thanks Charles. yes this place had seen a lot of activity, from 1868-1910. it had been a grove where the methodist held campmeetings for a week each fall. in the fall of 2007 when it had been in beans i pulled close to 50 coins out of here, including 2 cent pieces, shield nickels, a half dime, seated dimes, barber dimes, barber quarters, and indian heads. a lot of these coins were a first for me. hh mike

nice finds,
i've found 2 of those silver 3 cent coins.
i've heard they are hard to find over there so they must be really hard to find here in the UK.
i've found 4 indian head pennies also and my brother found a seated half dime in our local park.
all mine were found with a CZ6a.

found pics of some of them.

Sure is a good lookin bunch of old silver... Interesting foil signal for that 3center... Does it still read as foil now that it has been cleaned some?

HH Robert

Thickness has a bit to do with it (eddy currents). Size also affects things. Look at the pictures of the 3 cent piece. Pretty thin and small diameter compared to the other coins.
