Second hunt for me and the Sand Shark a clad day

Trackerman

New member
Well I decided to hit another beach called Manhattan. This time I mounted the box on the top near the arm cuff area and it was much lighter this way . I also noticed the coil would slide on the water much better when mounted like this. I tried vco mode and normal both performed well. This time around its was coins only. This beach has never produced any decent jewelry for me but I thought what the heck ill try it with a Pi machine. I found about 3.40 in coins and a very small piece of costume jewelry. There were plenty of people on the beach. I didn't get manny targets in the water I'm guessen there just weren't manny. So I hit the volleyball courts and various dry sand areas. Also there were three tourists and one of them asked me if he could take a picture with my metal detector and I told them hell no. I told them there's three things a man owns you don't mess with one is his wallet the second one is his car and the third one is his metal detector so off they went. All and all it was a fun day. Got to try a different beach now. HH

Well i'm sure glad the thing finds coins.I guess i will try to venture up in the dry sand myself some.I went in the dry sand some with the headhunter, and i was bringing up old rusty beer bottle caps a foot deep.Could have been some of my old ones when i was a teenager.I know working this thing in the dry will be tough.I have seen some beach hunters really kill the gold jewelry beach hunting with this detector.Don't forget about hip mount.I am getting the pouch for mine.I am the hip mount type.I like the Anderson shafts. They got a special shaft for the sand shark. They got carbon fiber shafts, and i had one before,it was great!Check out Anderson shafts.I hope to get all my equipment right, and move closer to the beach.I will have greater access to Civil War period areas also.So i got about 3 more weeks before i get mine off layaway. Thanks for sharing the hunt info trackerman.I hope we both do good at the beach with this detector. :-$

Cool Spiritrelic I like the way I mounted it above the elbow near the arm cuff. I wouldn't hip mount it because I would wind up hitting the detector box with my scoop or pulling the detector cords hard by accident. The sand shark did decent on dry sand and I have no doubt it will find good targets in wet if there actually there. In my opinion the Sand Shark is a pretty nice Pi. Easy to use and good battery life. Real smooth on wet and dry sand. Decent depth for the money as well. It's just a matter of finding a good beach to hunt. Good luck and Happy Hunting.

And not a bad clad day either! You more than paid for the batteries! I figure if I pay for the batteries, every thing else is gravy! Once you get that coil over gold, you will be well on your way towards paying for the detector.

With respect to:

Good logical thoughts. I'll add that I started water hunting with a hip mounted CZ20. After I got rolled by the hard chop a couple of times, I got rolled while out beyond the hard chop digging for a target and not paying attention to a larger than average wave. The cable from the hip mounted box to the coil wrapped my legs up and it took longer than I liked to get my feet apart, find my balance and get my head into the air. After thinking hard about the dynamics involved, since then I've kept every detector I hunt the water with on a shaft to limit the potential for getting tangled. I've also picked up a life jacket that inflates with a CO2 cartridge to assist in finding right side up if I need some help.
Have fun and be safe!
Cheers,
tvr

Tracker man , how deep is that getting for you ? you did good in cladd,

I dug a few holes that must of been around 10 to 12 inches at least. Those arent fun when the waves are on ya
Its plenty deep for me. Its funny some beaches are more clad and some have more coins. The hard part is finding a good one. Because to be honest its all about location. HH and.thanks
again.
