second hunt with f5 nets a nice little hunk of silver

Was in the low 40s today and sunny, so I decided to take the f5 out . when I first started hunting the f5 was acting very unstable. I couldn't get the gain any higher than 60 and the threshold any higher than -3. my first target bounced every where, it was just all over the place I couldn't figure out what the target number/numbers were. I went ahead and dug it and at about 5" it was a piece of aluminum siding. I rescanned the area and the numbers were still bouncing everywhere. so I dug down another 3to 4'' and there it was a big electrical wire. guess I was lucky my digger was not real sharp or I would have cut into that thing:blink: I filled that hole in pretty quick and moved over about 10" feet and things calmed down. much better. I ran the gain up to 75 and the threshold to +3. that seemed to be a decent setting to this area. the bar graph for ground mineralization stayed at very low. I ground balanced alot during the hunt and the average was 72. I used the 4tone. 4 differant times I got a high 20s signal and each time the confidence bar maxed telling me it was a nickel. all 4 times it was can confetti. all 3 of the low 40s targets was a square pull tab. one thing I found interesting was a signal that bounced from 70s to 80s to 70s to 60s. the f5 said it was bout 6" I dug down that far and nothing after 3-4 minutes I found the target in the grass roots just an inch down. was can confetti bout the size of a quarter. I wont bore you with all the details. the silver pendent came in at a solid 86 and stayed there. 4'' down.
I hunted for 3hr and 35 min and played with the gain/threshold and discrimination and tones. I really really like this machine! 7 quarters 3 dimes 1 nickel and 4 Penny's. The pendent says jen on it. it has no other markings that I can see. when I got home I ran it under my other detectors the f2 showed a solid 85, the atpro showed a solid 82 and the ace 350 and ace 250 banged real high on it so I don't doubt that it is silver. it has some weight to it. I don't have a set of scales to weigh it. Thanks for looking and best of luck!!

Sounds like a real good 2nd hunt to me!.

Really like the pendant. Cool find.
