Second Time Out With the 4.5 x 7 "Mini-Me" Coil and MORE SILVER! :)

Went out to a iron-infested and absolutely POUNDED bean field with Darren and his dad today. There were using CZ-70's with the 5" hockey puck coil and I had my SE with the 4.5 elliptical on it. I was running the SE at 30 and 32 sens, gain 6, All Metal, and it was a smooth as "buttah". I picked up a 1917 Merc, a 1959 Rosie, a '44 wheatie, some bullets, and a few other things. It was a beautiful day and the SE and the coil performed very well.

Darren got some nice buttons and his dad got a really nice one...I meant to get a picture of it...hopefully Darren will post one. It had, I believe, Spanish writing on it, was the size of a quarter, had a big swan on the front with a queen's crown on top with a cross on it.

Turned out to be a badly worn 1917 Merc...the first full production year. Mercs coexisted with Barber's in 1916.

Nice finds Mike..................I didn't get an opportunity to play with the 4 X 7 but it looks like you are using it to full advantage!

It seems like it would be the perfect thing for the type of hunting you do, where there's a lot of camp trash. It will definitely get things that will be missed with the larger footprint of the stock coil.

Dimes come in on the top edge in my area. Aluminum cans come in where you have shown the crosshairs. What a difference in soil and location.

Yeah, I tried and tried to get it to go all the way and that was the best I could get. It was actually a step below that for the most part. I wiggled it to where you see it in the pic. That place is HORRID for iron...like nothing I've ever seen anywhere else. My friend Darren said it was "the iron proving-ground" if ever there was one.

It sure is getting to be quite the Little Coil, isn't it! I am starting to get very interested in purchasing one every time you post good finds from worked areas! I hope it continues for you with the great finds you are making with it and Good Luck and HH.

Yeah, it's doing well. I didn't get any silver today but I got a burned up 1890-something Indian, a wheatie, and a nice token the size of a silver dollar that's real unique, from the same hunted out site. I'll have a pic later.

No Chris, we were operating in different areas and we didn't cross-check each others targets. But from what I saw, the CZ's with the 5" coils were doing very well. Those machines, as you know, are right up there with the Explorers is terms of what they can do. My buddy Jack hit the Barber House with me today and was using my 5" coil on his CZ-7a Pro and picked up a couple of nice targets, as did I again with the SE. Neither of us got silver today but we both got a wheatie and we both got the same token, in completely different areas...size of a silver dollar...promo coin from a long-defunct apple juice company in Norfolk. Those were missed by so many people with so many machines in the past that it's amazing. And in all the times we've hunted that place, there has only been one other one found...about 5 or 6 years ago, when the house was still there and I found on in the front yard about 10" deep with my Garrett. And then today, after 100 outings there, we both put small coils on different machines and go to different spots and find the same coin??? Crazy.

It's a Lesche Ground Shark and I got it from a place called Streeter's Tresure Hunting...he's a dealer. You can get them through KellyCo or several other places. Here's one on ebay..."Buy Now" for $49. That's the 40". The one I have is the 36", so the one below is a little longer...which is probably good. Maybe less work.

Thanks John...yeah, I kind of liked the lock too. Pretty unique find. I always wonder when I find that kind of thing, how it got out there in a field like that. Did somebody rob the postal system and break into a box or bag and discard it? Or what somebody was doing under a shade tree when they lost that seated quarter. Having a picnic? Resting from some hard work? Gettin' some???
