selling the 11 inch DD for good

is this a good idea? and replacing it with a NEL sharpshooter. Figure I can almost break even. heard the NEL is just as deep and significantly better regarding EMI. thoughts before I put it on ebay?

Heard the same thing!
I tried the NEL sharpshooter on my Omega, the only EMI reduction I noticed was due to the fact that it was a little smaller coil.
For deeper coin shooting I fell back to the 11" DD

Don't get me wrong the NEL coil has a place in the market, but I didn't find it to be an All Supreme coil for my conditions and hunting style.
Now I really didn't like the mounting tabs (ears) on the coil, they are angled on the inside rather than flat and when you tighten the nylon mounting bolt it arches it a good bit.

Some seem to think that because the cable on the coil is a larger diameter that it has better shielding. Well, it could have, but on another brand of coil I had to replace the connector and it had the larger cable, what I found was nothing inside it to provide more shielding,
It had a little thicker jacket (made it harder to work with)
The biggest thing that over sized the cable was a lot of strain relief cord that was wrapped up around the wires.

So, a little friendly advice! you may very well be able to replace your 11" DD with the NEL, but I think I would hold on to the 11" DD until the day you've determined the NEL has in fact been your main go to coil. Otherwise you could end up finding a replacement 11" DD coil.

Its your choice for sure.

do not sell it........ It's the optimum coil for the machine...

I put my stock concentric back on as the NEL SS did NOT have better depth. My F2 on air test is 1-2" less with the SS. But the footprint is wider than the stock sweet spot.

Now I do not have a 11" DD on the F2 to compare. But I do on the F5. My stock concentric on the F5 does 2" better than the stock F2. And the 11" DD on the F5 is about 1" deeper than the stock coil.

So in my case, the NEL SS was not all that good. But after the years of having the F5, I always use the stock coil (and even tried to sell the 5" and 11" DD because I never use them). I guess I'll keep the 11" DD in case I go to the beach, because my soil is not difficult.

I'm starting to believe like Monte. Concentric is best overall for ID, PP and depth, but takes a little more over lapping.

Just my opinion and your milage may vary.

Searchcoil size Most standard searchcoils are approximately 8 inches (20 cm) in diameter if round, or approximately 10 inches (25 cm) in length if elliptical. Larger searchcoils allow covering more area with each sweep, and offer a slight increase in depth on medium and large size targets. Unfortunately they are heavier, more difficult to pinpoint with, tend to lose small targets, and provide poor target separation. Small searchcoils provide superior target separation (important in trashy areas) and ability to detect smaller targets (important in gold prospecting). Of course they don

5 inch DD, 5x10 DD or 10 inch concentric to add to the arsenal then?

and you forgot the 4x6 concentric.

What are you primarily hunting for?
As Elton stated, its the coil the F70/75 machines are optimized for.

The 10" conc is great, as long as you are not cursed with high iron content. I keep mine for the times I get into moderate ground
I have the 5x10 DD and like it very much, thank you. But it still draws the burps and farts in trashy ground. Otherwise, its my current favorite.
Never used the 5"DD, got my 4x6 "football" first and like it for trashy areas. I had a few on this board recommend it for my "nugget passion", but have yet to get enough time to hit the gold fields.
