Selling tokens

steve in so la

Well-known member
I remembred something from years back that I did & thought I'd mention it. I had dug an old transportation token from Seymour, Texas. It basically gave a guaranteed ride from the train to the hotel and back. It was in good shape and I wondered how it got to Arizona. Anyway, I looked on the net and found several men who dealt in these things and wrote to them, accompanied by a picture of the token.
The best offer wrote back and said he would give me $125.00 for it. I then went to a local coin dealer, well known in my city, & I showed him several tokens I had dug and wondered what he would pay for them. When he saw the one from Texas he casually said "give you 25 bux". I then said a dealer in Texas offered me 125 where upon he said "I'll give you $130.00". Got a good laugh out of that one. But I said I had already told the Texas man I would sell it to him - which I hadn't but would not sell to the local guy just for trying to jack me on the deal. I did send it to the dealer after he paid me.
So if you dig a token from elsewhere, check the internet and see, but watch out for the snakes around you , Steve in so az

Yep, always some who try to take advantage of those who don't know better or need the money, quickly! Snakes in the grass they are and never know when they will stick their heads up like satan and his demons and lie like them! Praise God there are honest people and dealers out there, but they seem to be on the fewer side of this life!

I haven't ever sold any of my finds as I just kept :detecting: and never really took the time to find out any prices and then I became ill and also Cliff, soooo I still haven't done anything with any of them! Of course, I don't have as many as you do Steve and others but just the thrill of finding what I did was an enjoyment and exercise for me for many years!

Hope you find lots of more goodies and can go :detecting: for many, many more years! Amen! God Bless! Betty

I know a great guy that buys tokens and other things too. Gary Kruesel. Terry has sold him some stuff.
