I tried to hunt an extremely trashy park......... So I went to discrimination settings on the SEPRO..checks & X's system.

I left coins in..Ferrous coins out, nails out screw caps out, Bottle caps out..... Since I was only looking for coins I thought I would not need Jewelery in so X'd it out..To my surprise I noticed screen blacked on upper right corner.. So I lost Silver coins..can someone explain why Jewelery out takes Silver coins out..
To my knowledge no other machine does this Jewelery is lower on the settings scale RIGHT ?? Does my Se Pro have a problem since it takes out Silver coins with elimination of Jewelery ?????????????

Hi Elton,

Here are some screen shots from the SE Emulator. With Jewelry accepted (with a check mark), the stuff on the left is disc'd out (black area) and the stuff on the right is in (white area). This looks very much like the Coins accepted setting, but has a little more accepted around the middle of the bottom.

When Jewelry is rejected (X mark), it takes the inverse of the accepted setting, and disc's out pretty much everything that is conductive with low to no ferrous.

When you just want Coins, put the check mark next to Coins, and leave Jewelry blank. Setting a specific check mark or X actually combines the logic; leaving it unmarked just leaves it as 'not considered' either way (neither accepted nor rejected).

When you put an X next to Nails, nothing really happens since the Coins setting already discs out Nails. When you reject Bottle Caps and Screw Caps, it will add additional disc to the Coin setting, since the specific rejection of them overrules the accepted area of Coins (rejection wins over acceptance). Rejecting Jewelry pretty much overrules most of the accepted Coins area, including the upper right corner.

The net is that you were doing fine X'ing the others except for Jewelry. So just leave that blank, and you'll get the combo you're after.

Elton,

Go to the minelab owners site and download the emulator, real neat practice tool. Just be sure you download the SE emulator.

I understand you not wanting to hear all those targets.... i use patterns as well occassionally. But i only use them normally when ive hunted the area before. With patterns you do reduce the sensitivity of the coil over all those nulled targets. Also, a good many of my IHs fall in the screw cap range. Why not just go in and create yourself a pattern.... otherwise coin checked and crown caps gives ya what you want.

That sounds like a better plan Dewcon
