Gold and Lead do not weigh the same. Period. Never have and never will.

As for Gold plated lead, a thick plating should fool a test kit.

1 cf of gold = 1206 lbs troy
1 cf of lead = 708 lbs troy

The difference is significant. The weight for lead is based on cast lead. rolled is 711/cf and it gets lighter from there as it is alloyed.
With some basic measuring tools you should be able to figure how many cc's or ci's or cf there are and find the correct table for form of cubic measure and there you have it.
