Severely damaged - Token, coin or thimble..?

Found on small farm (built about a 100 years ago) in Rockford Il, Found in the front yard, in about 4 inches of well composted dirt.

I can make out some of the wording on front side only. It appears as follows:


IZEN (Possibly "Citizen")
EE (LARGE CASE)

HE PURCHASES O (Possibly "The purchaes of")
OW

No visible marking on the back its too damaged.
