shallow water hunting

I just bought a Fisher CZ-3D. Would it be possible to water hunt for coins in a shallow freshwater stream less than a foot deep?
 
Remember water and electronics don't mix so be care ful you don't slip. Coil is waterproof so shouldn't be any problem. Might put a plastic bag on the control head just in case...
