Short 1 Hour Hunt Today! Vacant Lot. :detecting:

Decided after work to walk over to the Vacant Lot next to where I live again and dig anything repeatable with good sound to it. Got a few pieces of Junk but did find a few interesting things. I found an Oval Item and I had no idea what it was until I cleaned it. The Back is blank but on the Front it reads "KNIGHTS OF PYTHIAS" on the Top and in the Middle inside the Shield, it reads "ESTO PERPETUA". Cool Relic! I also found a Cork Style Bottle that has REX on the Bottom of it. Another find was a Key Ring with some Keys on it. The Cleaned Pic of the Bottle and Keys has a Metal Ruler to give you an Idea on how big the Bottle is. The Ruler was another Find at a Remodel Job on a house. Found behind an old Heat Register. And I couldn't go on an outing without getting some kind of Coins. I found 1 Wheat Penny dated 1948-d and a Token. The Token says 25c on the Front and on the Back it reads "Emil Gregor Dray & Transfer Casselton, N.D." on it. I have dug about 15 of these Tokens now from this Vacant Lot. I know there is more to be found and also some nice Relics and Coins but the Lot is Huge. Close to the size of a Football Field I bet. Looks like Rick(ND) will have to give the Lot another try if he doesn't have any Relics or such for Find Of The Month on Friday. Finds were found to the Far East Side and worked back West on the South Side about 15 Feet Away from the Tree's Rick. Went just past the Fence Line in the back and found the Token on the North Side of the Lot and about 10 Feet to the West if you get out and try the Lot Rick. Just follow the Plugs and use a Smaller Coil! I was using the Stock Coil and wished I had either the 5X10 Joey on or the 8" Minelab. Lots of Iron! Hope you like the Pics and Good Luck and HH everyone. Thanks for looking.[attachment 68649 DirtyItem.jpg][attachment 68654 CleanedItem.jpg][attachment 68650 DirtyBottleandKeys.jpg][attachment 68653 CleanedBottleandKeys.jpg][attachment 68652 DirtyWheatandToken.jpg][attachment 68655 CleanedWheatandToken.jpg]

It was definetly worth the time after work to try that Lot. I like finding Tokens and Neat Relics. Good Luck and HH to you.:detecting:

I never got real far back on that lot and was always going to try it sometime. When you say fence line I don't remember that unless it is way in back to the east where the coolie use to run. I will see if I can give it a try on Thursday if possible and bring my Joey and maybe that 8 inch Concentric coil as it seems to work good in trash.
Thanks for the heads up James and hope I can get there and find something.

Rick

I like finding trade tokens. Never found a 25-center though WTG

I find the Trade Tokens very interesting. Especially if a person knows the history of that Town and what time period they were used. Good Luck and HH when you come home!

When I refer to the Fence Line, I am talking about the Fence that goes North and South behind the Apartments that are next to the Lot. Looks to be Raining now but hopefully it stops today or you get a chance to try the Lot on Friday before the Meeting. This would be an excellent spot to give the Concentric Coil a try I think. Hope you have some Good Luck and HH when you try the Lot.:detecting:

I love finding old tokens. They are one of my favorites.Hope to get out this weekend with my newly acquired XS!

It cleaned up nicely. I wish I wasn't a zillion miles away and wasn't pinned down to my job...as I would love to hunt with you sometime. Heck I can't even find more than an hour or so per week to ride the Harley though.

It's too bad that we weren't born with about a Million Dollars, then we could just live off the interest and Detect when ever we felt like it. Could do side jobs for a little change of pace when we would get burned out from detecting. There just isn't enough time in 1 day to get things done either. It would be a blast to detect with other Detectorist's from the Forums, especially the ones I chat with often. I enjoy when I get together with Chris(SoCenWI) a lot also. Maybe someday we could get together! Until then, Good Luck and HH.

Tokens are one of the best finds one can make with a Metal Detector. Most of the time, a Token will be worth more than a Coin that you have just dug, except for them Rarer Coins and other Treasures. If you have never owned or used an Explorer XS before, do not be shy about PM me with questions, or in fact any of the other Explorer User's on the Explorer Forum. We all have success, some great than others, but we all know a thing or two about our Detectors. Good Luck and HH when you recieve your XS and thanks for the post.
