short Beach hunt with E-trac

Hi All

Went out for a short hunt on the beach, got one Indian 1904, one wheat, old watch and 10lbs of lead, fork, part of a old spoon and some brass relics

*******NO IRON******

Even ran it wide open for a bit just to SEE how Bad the Bag of cats would be upset after a big kick ........

I was surprised how SMOOTH she can run on 30 manual even with lighting flashing in the distance; but do not recommend for long periods unless you have a bag of lead to shield YOU ! [attachment 103697 9408.jpg]

Are you hunting salt beaches? I am hunting dry clay, can't seem to get a handle on it yet. What kind of settings are you running? My auto sensitivity is running 20 or less, mostly 16 and an occasional single digit. When I do an air test with the PR coil, I can get 8 inches on the largest coins and 6 on the small. Could you try yours and let me know the results. By the way, mine ignores hot rocks and coal slag, I mean SEE THROUGH technology for real. In an air test, I can detect a quarter through a bag of hot rocks. Try it, it's cooool! Glad you are having fun.:detecting:

I have been saying all along NEW TECHNOLOGY it ain't your average chew.....

My question to you ....did I read that you where not using the coil that it was tweaked with from the factory because you did not want to mess it up ......I may be wrong but I read some one was doing that .....
just A thought any way I just run in the coin program and beach program always on multi sounds, conductive, and full Variability......sometimes I will change to manual in the menu. But i like the fact that when I do not I can watch the screen on the recommended sensitivity and thumb it on the arrow keys from +3 and when I get a hit and want to lock better or draw out a better lock I will thumb it down to a -3 they talk about it somewhere in the manual but not the technique on the fly... so far I usually run at 16 -22 most times and have just started getting brave.....pushing her...
like a new bride do not want to wear her out the first week....Anyway I hope this makes some cents my deepest finds have been smooth and easy I try not to go 4 # over what the machine is recommending .......hope this is not confusing and helps let me know
Ps leave the (AUDIO) gain on stock settings... I found this out early......least for now till the tiger is trained!

On the coils: it wasn't that I didn't want to mess up the new Pro coil, I already have two other Pro 11 coils which are supposed to be the same exact coil, already on the shafts etc. And in testing all three, they all behave the same so there is nothing wrong with my coils. Did ML say they tweaked the Pro 11 coils shipped for the ETrac differently? If so, I better label that one or I will have a problem. I am using the same settings as you, haven't messed with the gain except to occasionally turning it down to 22, if I was digging any falses. The only thing I haven't tried is manual sensitivity, and I am thinking I can pretty much tell what a false signal is, so I am just going to let her straight out of the box and see what kind of depth I can get. Especially since the ground is so dry here. That air test I did earlier,in auto sens 16, I was only showing 6 inches on a quarter, and in manual 30, I got ten inches; that is a vast difference. I am starting to think because the ground is so dry here that I may need to push the sensitivity a little to bring the targets into range and why I am not getting a whole lot of depth. Ground moisture and especially salt water helped my depth on my SE a great deal where a lack of it robbed my depth. It's raining now and supposed to all weekend, so time will tell. On the beach where I was getting awesome depth with my SE, I had to keep my gain at 7 or less or it would false horribly every time I touched the coil to the wet sand. I wonder since they expanded the gain from 10 to 30 whether that's linear with just more stops, like old 6 is now 18, and old 8 is now 24, it kind of looks that way as the factory preset on the SE was 8 and now it's 24 on the ETrac, exactly three times. Of course, it may have absolutely no parallel to the SE in that manner like so many of the other things. The fact that they just reprinted the gain info from the SE manual without adding anything to the ETrac manual might mean they haven't changed much. Thanks for the info, let you know how she runs hot in dryer soil.
