Short Holiday with my family in The Netherlands.

A couple of days ago I arrived with my familie on the Dutch Wadden island of Texel for a 7 day vacation. (https://www.texel.net/en/about-texel/)

This time I took my Garrett 400i with me.

The first day I searched a small children playground and found 12 coins with a total of 8 Euro ( $ 9,75)

The second day I went to the beach for 2 hours and only found Euro 3,70 ($ 4,50)

Today I searched another playground and found a nice silver ring. After 15 minutes I found an old coin that turned out to be a Danish coin dated 1695. I have found hundreds of old coins but never a Danish coin.

It is a Silver coin from king Christian the 5th.

Really crazy to find a coin like this on a children playground.

That is a really neat find. If it could only tell how it got there.

Great that you could take your family with you. Glad yo got home safe. Love that coin. Wonder how maty other hunters missed it. You never know what you will find or where you will find it. Coin in great shape. Any idea the worth of the coin? How was the weather over there? Any problem bring it home with you?

I do not know how much it is worth, the shape is not that great. Perpaps I need to clean it a little bit more. Bringing it home with me is not a problem. I did have permission to search.

We are in total lockdown here at the moment because of Covid. You are allowed to travel , but not with more then 3 people. The weather is good here at the moment no snow. We did have a big storm here a couple of days ago windforce 9.

We live 50 miles from here in the western part of The Netherlands, that is were all the beaches are and as soon as I'm back next week I will hit the beaches again using my Equinox 600. Metaldetecting is great in the area were I live. You can go to the beach or search old fields and find objects ranging between 1200 and 1900.

Please have a look at this video I made some time ago about my top 5 finds.

Thanks,

Andre

Nice find the silver content in that coin must be lower than 90% I figure because of the shape nice find you never know where old coins pop up my last two were in school yards a 1823 capped bust dime and a 1877 seated dime never thought id see them in those spots.

The coin is 833/1000 part silver and 167/1000 Copper. King Christian V ruled over Denmark and Norway between 1670 and 1699.
The coin was made by Borgergade coin mintage in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Writing says:

Christian V king of Denmark, Norway
Piety and justice

Christian V by the grace of God

I was stationed in the Netherlands (USAF) ‘75-‘77 at the Soesterburg AirBase! Wish I would have been into metal detecting then. Betting more old coins around there than one can shake a detector at!!!!!
