Short hunt yields 1923S SLQ - key date :yo:

Thanks MassSandman and jeff and Maria...

... yeah, it's a pretty small price to pay for a nice quarter. And I did learn something too - IT IS A WORKOUT digging in rock hard, bone dry ground !!! :detecting:

No need to go to the gym today!

Good job.. hunting the dry soil is tough here in the nw.

Congratulations on the beautiful SLQ Steve!!!:clapping:
Most of us here in the NW had a "dry"spell with
not getting out for a while due to weather or whatever,
so know what you went thru. And yes, a beautiful SLQ
like yours will definately give your attitude a boost.
Nice job...... Gold Nuggets :wiggle:

Nice date, good condition. Some definate collector/numismatic value there! Just goes to show: while those east coast guys get their large cents, busts, colonials, etc.... they're all phillie mints! But us west coast guys, maybe we don't gettum as old, but at least we get those nice low-mintage S's all the time :)

NICE one.

A day with phantom holes sounds like a day with me and the pro coil:smoke:

Everytime I use that coil...I dig 20 holes to nowhere:cool:....but then it usually pops out a sweetie for me.

It usually ends up finding something good for me..but only after frustrating me for a while:clapping:

Thanks to all who replied - most appreciated!

therick: Funny you mention golf (... as I've been 0 (zero) handicap golfer since I was 20 years old). MDing is a lot like golf in many ways. The more time you put in, the better you get - that's for sure! Right now, I think I'm about a 18 handicap MD'er... I need to put in more practice!

NealINoIN: It's been a while since I had a coin graded, but I might with this one - just to see where it comes in.

Tom_in_CA: Agreed! And another thing - we can usually hunt every month of the year. I guess that's the trade off though (fewer real oldies)...

Bryce-IL: Hmmmmm, how'd you guess I had a Pro Coil on my SE???

I'm heading back to that spot on Thursday (if I can squeeze it in between work), and I think I'll bring the X-8 with me this time - and maybe the 10x14 Ex. too (and arm-buster, but deeeep). Maybe I'll work some overtime and get the 10x12...
