Short morning hunt

I got out a couple of hours on an old road bed back in the woods. There were only a few signals. I dug a lot of modern shotgun shells. I found the older UMC shell, a 1942 merc, and some small lead balls. The mercury dime was a surprise, because I was pretty far back in the woods. I also found a broken arrowhead.

Very nice, as always. I need to quit working around the house and get back out. It's been a long time.

Merq in the woods? Did you hit that area hard?

Not really. I will go back to the area this week. It was on an old road leading to a 1800's cemetary back in the woods. The guy who owns the property said his grandfather called the old road confederate trail. He says there was a confederate camp there and showed me a CSA ammo pouch plate that he found in the plowed field that parallels the road.

With that information you'd do well to hit that place hard! I've never really hunted for any civil war relics, but from the sounds of it, this could be your bananza! Good luck and keep us posted!
