Short Video - Coins in Iron I

Here is a continuation of my "educational E-Trac Series" (for me too).

I dug a smaller Bronze coin in fairly heavy iron at 8". You can really see the Fe numbers CONSISTENTLY stay down, at least from one angle. Don't pass up those Fe numbers in the 20's - investigate them from different angles. Also, I try out TTF and it really improved the signal - it gave a more consistent high tone and yet showed the iron right next to the target.

Considering that this coin was in heavier iron than most that I have dug and that TTF gave a better signal, I am now looking at TTF with new appreciation. Note - this is the first time TTF gave a better signal. I was afraid of missing deeper coins in TTF due to the lower Fe numbers but that wasn't true here. I was actually shocked by this and don't understand how this was possible. My settings in Conductive and TTF are identical so I don't know how there could be a difference in VID response as well as tones. (Though they are on two different circuits I believe).

Also, the pinpoint was totally thrown off by the iron (and perhaps trash) so be careful with pinpoint or even quick mask dropping Fe numbers (due to iron).

I edited this to be educational, so there is a fair amount of subtitles to point out some observations. I truly got a lot out this myself from watching and listening again.

Also, there was a recent thread on Quick Mask and in it "The Marshal" mentioned quite a few things that I came across above (and beyond). There were other great points from other users as well. If you haven't read that thread, I strongly strongly recommend it. It was quite enlightening to me and then I had this target the day after. Quick Mask Thread

I appreciate comments from anyone as your comments have assisted my learning tremendously. Already I know I need to go back in these conditions with Recovery Fast On and see if it stops the blending of iron and coin co-located targets.

Enjoy,
EMS

ps - Watch the video in 480 and appreciate the better quality - do so by clicking on "Youtube" in the lower right corner and then when there adjust the setting to fullscreen and 480.

Nice video Albert. I have yet to use TTF to check iffy signals, but you have inspired mo to start.

Here is another target from the same hunt. It is a Bronze coin that reads at 12 33 out of the ground and was 7" down. (Thanks for the comments ironman, tell me what you think about the sound affects in the opening here ;-)

Nice educative video Albert. Next time try respond Long, recovery fast will not make signal any better. Stasys

Good idea, I need to try long.

I want to try recovery fast when I am getting the Fe #'s consistently in the 20's (like in the beginning). I wonder if it will stop or improve the blending of numbers.

Thanks Stasys,
Albert

Good job Albert !!!!

I really enjoy your videos.

Another good video Albert, thanks!!

I really enjoy the videos Albert...especially the coin sound effects at the beginning! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the new videos Albert. The info was spot on as always. I also agree with Stasys though. I have been experimenting a lot with "long" lately and it has definitely found its place for me, especially with deep targets amongst junk. We both know each others ground is different, and I haven't tested changes in my settings too much across the puddle, but I do think that "long" could definitely help you out. Thank you very much for your newest video and I look forward to your next one(s). HH -Marc

I never use the pinpoint function in heavy iron, the wiggleback method is more concise in TTF. That way you know what your PPing, thanks for the vid

Thanks for the comments - learning is fun.

I'm back and the snow is gone (non coincidence)!

Goes4Ever - Thanks for that "wiggle" comment. I didn't notice nor think to try to see if there was a difference in Conductive vs TTF. Again, I have to comment on the E-Trac sounds. They are so odd in that it's like a mini all metal mode, in the way you said - you hardly need to move the machine to get a sound. Very beneficial.

I'll try some Long as well as Pitch Hold audio on deeper as well as targets in heavy iron.

Albert

Thanks for the vids. Very educational.

where are you digging? what "type" of site?

(h.h.!)

jmaryt - I'm in Germany and don't want to say where the site is. The Germans are a smart peoples and they will find my spot. ehehe But, I will say it is a site frequented by many people.

It is pretty virgin, I mean other detectorists have hunted it, but I pulled 20 silver rings in 5 weeks and 4 silver Dmarks as well. The latter being pretty hard to find, so I think the site is or rather was pretty virgin. I cleaned most of the easy stuff. The sigals, like in this video, is what is mostly left now. So, I'm going to get to really learn the machine (as well as you guys too!) ;-)
