I have the opportunity to buy a used X1 probe from a very reputable dealer. I want to know what to look for as far as problems with the X1 probes. It has a tan shaft and is $150 Is it reasonable and how easy are repairs if any are needed in the future? How expensive is it to send it in to Sun Ray if I need to. How is Sun Ray to deal with regarding repairs. I just have no experience with them. Any experience with issues or repairs or cost of used is greatly appreciated. CODY

Not cheap to fix.........about the only thing that goes wrong is the probe...can go bad...and falses !

Are there any electronics or is it just a tiny coil and a switchand a couple of in/out jacks?

If you have a reputable dealer, he (she) should stand behind thier product. That simple. If you are able, try to see it in action. Mine is VERY stable. I switch to manual sens 30 when in probe mode if I can't get the signal in auto and it NEVER falses

If the probe or wires go bad, it can be expensive to have repaired or replaced...If the switch goes bad, it can be replaced easily with a little know how.
But as stated earlier...If it is a reputable dealer, they should stand behind what they sell...I have not dealt with a forum sponsor yet who would not back their products.

HH,

I am from LOndon. I have 3. They are the best. They dont work so well in an open screen so go to discrimination mode to use. Older ones will false on hole sides but doesnt bother me. Ralph who is available via this forum did a fine job helping me. What guarantee is there from the dealer?

I live here in Iowa close to where the Sunray Company is. The products are made to last, perhaps you would like a new one instead of used. Ralph is a stand up guy who will do all he can do to make things right for you. He invented the Sunray Probes we all use each day out in the field. Thousands and thousands of probes are being used each day from this company and all you will ever hear is they really work and Ralph backs it all up with excellent customer service.

As far as wanting to know what it costs to send an item back and what warranty you get and kind of service, just give Ralph a call at Sunray, I am sure he will help you as he has helped us. We have bought all of our machines, probes, headphones, and scoops from Ralph and can only say he is the best at making sure you are happy with your purchase. I would have to say that you should have no problem sending him your machine and getting a probe put on correctly, infact he put mine on my Etrac while I was at the shop!. Ralph has been around a while, he'll treat you right and he just might have a used one in stock.
